A Discworld first - The Thud podcasts page!

Welcome to the Thud podcast page where you can download and listen to thudcasts from Thud events from various places in the world!

The first comes to us from Lille France and features the inimitable Thudgame site admins speaking with the legendary Bernard Pearson whilst stopping overnight en route to the German Discworld Convention in Burg Freusburg (zu Siegen) in February 2007. They were a bit the worse for wear (from the amazingly nice local red wine on offer as much as from road fatigue!) but seemed to be able to put their subjects in front of their verbs. Mostly....

Thudcast 1

The thudcasts continued with our Eastward progress and we found ourselves captives to the amazing hospitality of the Dutch just outside Maastricht. We pulled up to Maastricht Airport where Oograh Boike and his wife Nicole met us and took us to lunch with the 2006 Thudmeister Palm and his family at their house. With an amazing feast laid out for us and some wonderful coffee we all waxed eloquent before the microphone and gace up a bit of homespun charm... well except Palm who wasn't letting anything slip about how to beat him at Thud! Cool

Oh, and the Vlaai (a chocolate pudding/pie) in the Netherlands are beguilingly dangerous and should be illegal under UN conventions... you can't stop at just one!! Shocked

Thudcast 2

Once we got there we had some chats with some of the wondcrful folk at the convention; one special one we recorded was with Roland Schmalenbach (Ercharmion on our forum), the newly crowned German Thudmeister 2007! We had a nice chat, well two chats actually, the first being completely in German. And, yes, we know it should be "Der neue Deutsche Thudmeister" Wink Cool

Thudcast 3

For those who speak the Queen's English (or those, like us, that manage any form of English as long as it's understood Wink), Roland and I had our second chat on the same topic "auf Englisch":

Thudcast 4

Wrapping up the German Discworld Convention 2007 recordings Lee had a nice chat with Jens Kleine (Death/Tod) who was chief organiser of the convention and our lovely host there in Deutschland. Jens worked full out organising things from the start till long after we left. We're not sure he slept during the entire time and this was on the last day when things were beginning to wind down...

...and yes! We would love to come back in 2009! Very Happy

Amongst all the fun we were having at the castle, we had the immense privilege of being serenaded by Christian Reiter with a stomping (literally at times!) version of "A Wizard's Staff has a Knob on the End". Listen and enjoy! Very Happy
