I think the technical term is that it is a coming of age book the main protagonists are at the transition between childhood and adulthood. I think its one of those books for all ages and one of his best so far. For any Secondlife people out there there is a VR version of Nation set up in SL and a treasure hunt to win a Sony reader with i think the electronic version of some of his books and other Pratchett related goodies which i think ends on the 31st oct tho it may be earlier my memories is a bit dodgy these days.

All the best books coming out nowadays seem to be aimed at the "Young adult" areas of the bookshop. Dunno why, it's just the way the market seems to be going at the moment. Some of the best authors out there are concentrating on that niche, where before they might have written for the scifi, or fantasy, or horror sections.

Just got Nation (for Christmas) and read it in 2 sittings (family got in the way of the first one Wink). Lots to think about, as ever - particularly for me, cos he's put a lot of theology into Nation - and I've just come back from my first term of theol at uni... He always seems to know where to go Wink
