there are a lot of things that could do with some explaining !

Check out wikia, a copycat of wikipedia that lets you make an entire wikipedia style thig, forums and all, on any subject you like (lost, stephen king, fried wombats...) for free.
I think an all discworld wiki would be good, with an extensive sub-sectuion on thud, as the wikipedia stuff is sort of dissorganised and lacking in places fprm the thudgame spirit.

there already is an all discworld wiki (http://wiki.lspace.org/wiki/Main_Page), which is better than anything a handful of thudders could manage. nor does this wikia really appeal to me. that would just be one wiki in a million, detached from this site and probably soon forgotten, just like this thudder map thing. i think that if we make a wiki it should be on thudgame.com because it wouldn't make sense anywhere else.

OK, a coupla things.... there is a Discworld wiki (at L-space). It gets updated once in a peculiarly turquoise, and not terribly intelligent, shade of blue moon. But then I understand the founders are busy with other projects and have been for quite some time.

On thudgame, hmmm.... See the thing about Wikis is anyone can edit them anonymously. This leads to two certain and immediate problems for us: people will post spam (it will happen minutes after we open it up!) and people will create fiefs (like on wikipedia - there's stuff (2,3), some of which is of a specifically, rarified know-how nature that even the creators/developers of the know how have been hounded off the site by an almost autistically dogmatic sect of wiki-fundamentalists protecting their self-selected little minute kingdoms). We won't put up with either of those, and don't expect you all to have to either, but, at the moment, we don't have the time to dedicate to managing it as intensively as it would require.

Now, if a login protected thing would be the logical next suggestion, well, we have one of those.... on here we call it the forum. But maybe some see this as more of a conversational area. Fair enough. We can roll out wiki software on any of our sites so if someone (or a lot of someones) was really interested we could dedicate one of our other domains to the Thud wiki. But only if the interest is there (by which I mean folk would commit to populating it with sufficient content). There is an easy way to do it and we would be up for supporting it so anyone who wants to manage it, contact us

i was actually thinking of a subforum. like the drum. would be a lot easier to manage, methinks.

We could do that pretty easily. give us a shout offline and we can set it up if there's interest.

i set up a poll to see if people are interested. it will end in two weeks for the simple reason that i won't be here for the next two weeks to "give you a shout" anyway.

I personally think that having it as a subforum in this forum would make it slightly harder for random peoples to come and just look a little fact up. If it was in a seperate domain, it would be much easier to just dip in and out of.

I will have not much to do in the evenings this summer, so would love to help populate this wiki.

Perhaps we could have a handful of dedicated populators, but everyone can email/otherwise commumicate, ideas to put in. This means then that the facts and informations can be properly checked over for accuracy etc before being posted. i know that sounds a bit like censorship...but we are a decent bunch of peoples, with no other controlling-the-masses thoughts...aren't we...

I would be willing to participate here. Although my time availability is still unknown this summer, I'm sure I can at least dedicate some minutes every day

both sp and i would be very willing to put some time into this, too, be it writing or looking through the articles.
